Back Again!

It’s reunion time in Belize City. I’ve just received an email from Deacon Tess Meadows saying that she has arrived there safely. (She left Calgary at 10F and arrived at Belize city to 85F. ) Tess, at that time from Vancouver, served in Punta Gorda before me and in Mango Creek (Independence) for some of my time in PG. Now she is back for a two-month volunteer stint at Holy Cross School on Ambergris Caye. “I thought I was going to work as classroom aide but Francis Wilson has big plans for confirmation classes, baptismal prep, religious instruction, daily school devotions, and a workshop for the teachers on the topic of Anglicanism. Obviously Francis is still running on ten cylinders!” (Tess is on the right in the picture.)

But it’s not just Tess who’s back. Bob and Jill Rhodes, who served in Belize City for three years, and entertained me there a couple of times before returning to England, are back on a short holiday. Can it be too long before yours truly joins the parade?

When I left over a year ago one of the gifts I carried was a patch-worked top for a quilt. Eventually I got around to asking the Quilters from St. John’s to do the quilting. The other day I received back the beautifully finished quilt and it now graces my bed, an ever present reminder of friends in Punta Gorda.
