Grafton the Beautiful

The other day I took my car in for servicing by Ian at Grafton Automotive. That gave me about 45 minutes to stroll along the highway with my camera. Grafton is a lovely village on Highway 2 about 10 minutes east of Cobourg.

Travel and Baseball Plus

Do I do nothing now but travel and watch baseball? Do you realize how much baseball is like the Christian life? Would you like to come to a ball game with me, or join me on one of my trips? So many questions, but do you have the answers? I have some.

Travel and baseball have been moved up on the agenda chiefly because of my move to the condo - and who knows how much longer...? But it's not all that I do. Besides working with the Museum Foundation here in Cobourg there are my church-type commitments: Neighbourlink Northumberland, occasional responsibilities at St. John's, and the monthly services at a number of Port Hope nursing homes and seniors' residences. As proof positive, I took along my camera this week (tripod for Trinity Sunday, you know) and posed the worship leaders at Roseglen Village for Seniors: Georgiana, Sally, Deacon Barb, Marion, Jack, and your's truly). Handsome bunch, don't you think?

A few weeks ago the Sunday Brunch Bunch were joined by Fr. Stephen as we had a home blessing at my condo. I felt the place was as good as it was going to get for some time and didn't want to wait any longer. It was a bit crowed but a dozen people fit reasonably well as long as they get along! No pictures taken - I didn't want to have to worry about that. It really surprised me that not many there seemed to know the song, "Bless this house, O Lord, we pray". Perry Como recorded one famous version and he's about our generation. Well, I used to listen to him, anyway. I'm also surprised that so few people have house blessings - perhaps that's a service I should be promoting?
