Happy Birthday
.
Hey! It was my birthday this week, so I took a trip to the city of my birth, Toronto! It's a great city to visit and I love to wander there. The plan was to get there late morning, visit Harbour Front, search some book stores and finish off with a ball game. Amazingly, everything went according to plan. The only problem was lugging my book purchases to the game. I took some pictures along the way on my Blackberry as proof and, O yes, the Jays won in 11 and I just caught the 11:13 train home.
.
The Harbour Front visit was to view work by Clayton Haigh in the glass studio. He calls those beautiful coloured pieces geodes. I love the blue one and it would fit perfectly in my bedroom.

I cannot go downtown without being enamoured again of the CN Tower. I was working at Little Trinity Church when it was completed and watched the final portion being lowered by helicopter.

I don't know what building this is but it has beautiful decoration all over. That's a little man looking down at us on the middle pier in the close-up, and there are other little guys all the way around the building.

I think this is on Queen St. West and going to be the set for a TV show. See the vehicle rear end coming out of the construction?

I expect this graffiti style art work hidden away on a Spadina corner must have been commissioned.

I enjoy wandering though the "downtown" (south of Bloor) neighbourhoods. There is always such a striking variety of gardens. These trees particularly attracted me this time.

Got myself a pretty good seat for my birthday game, and then Adam Lind won it in walk-off fashion. All I could have asked for!
